UN-certified metaBOX
Transport batteries without additional packaging.
With UN-certified series cases from PLASTON.
Lithium-ion batteries with an energy quantity of more than 100 Wh must be specially packed for safe transport.
To avoid this and to protect the environment, PLASTON – as the only manufacturer worldwide – produces UN-certified cases in series. Batteries no longer need to be specially packed or shipped separately.

UN certification applies only to approved case, interior packaging and battery configurations. Please contact us to check your configuration.
The test that a case has to pass in order to obtain the UN certificate is a tough one: the case, together with its inner packaging and contents, i.e. including the lithium-ion battery, has to survive a drop from a height of 1.20 metres at minus 18 °C without the battery falling out or being damaged. The case also has to withstand a stacking pressure test without damage.
The Li-ion battery is considered a hazardous material and must be protected accordingly. PLASTON knows how to produce such a sturdy protective case, including interior fittings, successfully and in series. PLASTON offers not only the elaborate design and production of the case and insert, but also the inspection and testing, as well as obtaining UN certification and thus approval of the packaging as dangerous goods packaging.
All three production sites in Europe and Asia are UN-certified for this purpose: they not only work according to the ISO 9001 quality standard, but also master the ADR rules for dangerous goods and fulfil even more conditions.
Among the UN-certified cases that PLASTON produces in series are several sizes of the metaBOX case system. An internationally authorised office has certified the cases tested in the company's own quality assurance. Since then, they have been officially UN-certified packaging with the corresponding UN marking. The abbreviation UN stands for United Nations. National and international regulations for transport by road, rail, sea and air are based on this UN system.
PLASTON is the only case manufacturer in the world that produces UN-certified industrial cases in series. "Others only manage this as a one-off production," says CEO Alexander Gapp. "Our customers benefit directly from this quality certification: they no longer have to additionally pack lithium-ion batteries over 100 Wh, but can place them directly in the case. This simplifies handling, saves costs and protects the environment because there is no need for additional packaging." Construction supplier Hilti, one of PLASTON's key customers, also benefits from this.
